Default cantha gold drop weekend???

I have ran a 55 monk and several other farmers sense shortly after prophecies release.
I figured i'd take advantage of this weekend and farm a few areas.
farming nahpui, Arborstone, Marketplace, between vasburg and unmaking waters and outside breaker hallow thru the jade sea.

I will admit keys fell from the sky and golds were plentiful but only 1-2 were actually " RARE " . Most were just merchant bait. Nahpui By far was the best for # of gold drops, yeilding 4-7 per run every 30 min or so.

I then went to droks and did a run. In 43 minutes I farmed droks ,avicara wise, guile, braves and fierce, trolls, giant as 55 and several pack of grawl as a 105/135. after ID, salvage and sale I yeilded 14k 176g. This is about average yet in Cantha I yeild about 6k???

Did anyone else notice alot of cantha chests drops being gold but not to good as a whole as well as cantha just doesn't yeild the same cash per hour as prophecies does?

If this should be in farming section sorry and please move it.

i noticed that mroe golds did drop but i noticed that they were worse than the golds i was getting in the same area before the event and after for that matter

i like oni farming and i usualy hit all the chests in that area... 3-5 chests per run and it was a nice area to get golds in the first place... 50% were golds at least... yea during the event i got 90% but again the drops were not MAX i gatherd prob 100 golds during the event and only came out keeping maybe two... whereas before the event most of the golds i got were max with profitable mods... vamps zealous and forts like mad...

event sucked imo... id rather see double chests than double rare personally ill take my chances with the working drop rate...

ps i did get more streaks of purples durring the event than before as well and perhaps the change in gold drops during the event was misconstrued due to the fact i was speed farming vs casual... i was trying to take advantage of the weekend and wasnt impressed... felt like i was wasting my time only doing farming but was afraid to stop and forfiet chances i thought i had because of the event

I farmed once in the event. Keys rarely dropped and my purple drops even had better stats than my gold drops. Then I never took part in the key/chest farming craze.

This whole event's a big scam. I'm just glad I never got fooled. If I did, I would have wasted over 50k buying keys.

I noticed nothing different that the drops were increased.

And there was no freaking scam, grow a brain...

keys dropped more so and the content of the chests would more often give a gold item - that was was promised

Noone said to use 50k on keys.

The event promised us rare drops. I never saw a 15^50 drop of any weapon. I never saw anything close to that. Out of all the chests I opened 80% of them were useless staffs and th other 20% were melee weapons against hexed foes.

No sh!t nobody told me to buy 50k worth of keys. But if the event is going to be so misleading, then I may get 50k worth of keys, get it? Now you grow a brain, because I was smart enough not to get pulled into a potential money sink.

I guess you're new to the game or something.

rare means a gold item , nothing more or less - it's not an indication of the actual usefullness of the item.

Not too clever, are we?

Rare = Items with yellow names.
Rare = Better chance to get better and more mods.
Rare = Harder to find than other items. i.e. Purple items.

The game doesn't choose what is or it not rare by the players own made up economy.

So yes, rare does mean any drop with the yellow name, whether you have a purple better than it or not.

So yes, the event gave us exactly what it promised. Whether you got lucky and received something actually worth saving or got all garbage does not mean it was a scam. Thanks to this event I finally got my first drop worth more than 100k.

Well aren't you lucky? The most valuable item that has ever dropped for me is Victo's Battle Axe. Good thing I got two at the time they were worth around 50k =_=

Luck has nothing to do with it, it's called skills.

According to my account, its taken me 14 months to get that. 14 months of opening random chests, occasional farming, questing, FoW/UW, etc...um...if anything I'm incredibly unlucky, and thats the first thing to indicate that maybe its changing.

But thanks for completely missing the point of my post. Everyone thinks a rare is an item worth a lot based on the player driven economy. When infact, its not. Until people realize this, we will continue to see threads like this pop up and people complaining that the complete randomness of this game wasn't kind enough to bless them today...or in my case...the last 14 months.

Sorry if this is considered a flame, but are you über dense?

Rare is a GOLD item it merely indicates that it's a RARE drop not a GOOD drop.

If you don't get that it's your problem, and if your definition of rare is something different than what rare means in the game then that's your problem as well.

Again it's the official name of gold items, they aren't called gold items in the game they are called rare items.

Did you get it yet?

This has been bothering me quite a bit too, as since this weekend happened, I've been seeing people complaining that they've been getting gold drops, but not rare drops. Gold is rare. Rare does not mean "perfect", it simply means "gold"... as it has from day 1 of having gold items in the game.

Like the link says, items go like this in order of rarity:
1. White
2. Blue
3. Purple
4. Gold

Just because a gold is less likely to drop than a purple does not necessarily mean that it will always be better than a purple. It simply means that there is more likelihood for it to be better than a purple. It's random and the luck of the draw. Are people honestly getting this miffed over items in a video game?

then you didnt open enough chests. just because its double golds dosnt mean 100% perfects. I have friends who r going to get rich from this weekend because of all the awesome stuff we found. 15^50 gothic dual axes +5 gothic blades and oni blades. and a load more good things.

Of course they are, thats all some people play the game for is to get a rare drop so they can increase the size of their tiny e-penis, brag when in a team by spamming it, thinking some of us are really bothered.

You sound a little too bitter for someone trying to claim they don't care.

Skills get you to the chest, or help you kill the monsters, but it's ALL LUCK after that. So i'd say luck has a lot to do with it.

did'nt get to play much at all over the weekend.. but the only runs I did was raisu- I ended up with 5 golden pheonix blades (one req. 10 +5 energy mod- one with +29 fort mod), a 15^50 plat longbow, 15^50 tetsubo hammer and alot of other golds I sold to title seekers for 600 gold to rebuy keys- I made money and got some really cool stuff- I dunno how you could say the drops were the same there was one run where the first chest the pug opened dropped 3 golden pheonix blades.. I got 2 blades in one run- if I had the chance to play more I would have probably got alot more
